Wix is an all-in-one, drag-and-drop website builder. Hostinger gives you web hosting where you can run WordPress (or use Hostinger's own website builder). They solve the same problem in different ways, and the right choice depends on how much control you want.
Choose Hostinger with WordPress if you want lower long-term costs, full ownership of your site and room to grow (blogs, stores, SEO). Choose Wix if you want the simplest possible drag-and-drop editor for a small site and do not mind being tied to one platform.

Ease of use
Wix is hard to beat for a first afternoon: pick a template and drag things around. WordPress on Hostinger needs a short setup (about an hour with our WordPress guide), after which editing pages with the block editor is just as comfortable. If you want drag-and-drop on Hostinger too, its website builder is an option.
Flexibility and growth
WordPress powers a large share of the web, and its plugin library covers almost anything: memberships, bookings, multilingual sites, advanced SEO and more. Wix covers the common needs well, but you are limited to what the platform offers. Curious what other sites are built with? A website technology checker tells you in seconds.
Ownership and lock-in
This is the biggest difference. A WordPress site on Hostinger is yours: you can back it up, download it and move to any host. A Wix site lives on Wix, so leaving usually means rebuilding.
Cost over time
Wix's premium plans (needed for your own domain and no Wix branding) are often more expensive over several years than shared hosting. With Hostinger, long-term plans and our 20% referral discount keep costs low, and WordPress itself is free.
SEO in detail
Both platforms can rank well on Google. The difference is how much control you have:
- Wix handles the basics for you: it generates a sitemap, lets you edit titles and descriptions, and guides you with an SEO checklist. Advanced changes depend on what the platform exposes.
- WordPress on Hostinger gives you full control over URLs, redirects, schema markup and site structure, with plugins like Rank Math or Yoast. You can also tune speed at the server level with LiteSpeed Cache.
For a blog or a content-heavy business site that depends on search traffic, that extra control usually pays off. An SEO health score is a quick way to compare pages on both platforms. Read our guide to starting a blog for the SEO basics.
Online stores
Wix includes a built-in store that is quick to set up for a small catalogue. WordPress uses WooCommerce, which is free and extremely flexible: product variations, Indian payment gateways, shipping rules, GST settings and thousands of extensions. For a growing store, WooCommerce on Hostinger Business or Cloud hosting gives more room to grow.
Design and templates
Wix offers polished templates and a true drag-and-drop editor where you can place elements anywhere. WordPress themes like Astra, Kadence and GeneratePress offer hundreds of starter designs, and the block editor makes layout changes without code. If pixel-level freedom on day one is your priority, Wix feels easier; if you want a design that can grow with you, WordPress is more flexible.
Speed and hosting
With Wix, hosting is part of the platform and you cannot choose the server. With Hostinger you choose the data center (including India) and control caching, image optimisation and plugins. That means more responsibility, but also more ways to make a site fast. See how to speed up WordPress on Hostinger.
Moving from Wix to WordPress
- Set up WordPress on Hostinger (follow our WordPress guide).
- Recreate your pages and copy your blog posts. Wix blog posts can often be exported through an RSS feed and imported into WordPress.
- Download and re-upload your images.
- Set up 301 redirects from your old Wix URLs to the new WordPress URLs so you keep your Google rankings, and test them with a redirect checker.
- Connect your domain to Hostinger and cancel the Wix premium plan once everything works.
Total cost of ownership
With Wix, you pay for a premium plan to use your own domain and remove Wix branding, plus apps from the Wix App Market where needed. With Hostinger and WordPress, you pay for hosting (with a free domain for the first year on eligible plans) and, optionally, premium themes or plugins. Over several years, WordPress on shared hosting usually works out cheaper, especially for blogs and small business sites. Compare both over three years before deciding.
Hostinger's own website builder
If you like the idea of drag-and-drop but want Hostinger's pricing and support, Hostinger also offers its own website builder with templates and AI-assisted tools. It sits between Wix and WordPress: easier than WordPress on day one, with fewer extensions. For blogs, stores that will grow, and sites where SEO matters a lot, WordPress remains the most flexible choice.
Which should you choose?
- Hostinger + WordPress for blogs, growing businesses, online stores and anyone serious about SEO.
- Wix for a very simple site you want to set up in an afternoon, with no plans to move it later.
